Installing Your Electric Furnace

When you first purchase an electric furnace you have to make sure that it is not only sized properly – but also installed properly. When it is not installed the right way it will not work properly and you will waste electricity that will cost you hundreds of dollars a year. Not to mention you may find yourself having to replace the furnace after less then a year of trying to use it.

There are two methods in which you can install the furnace. The first and the most recommended method of installation is to hire a professional to do it for you. They will understand exactly what needs to be done and because they understand all of the parts and components they know what everything is and where it needs to go.

A professional will also be able to place it in the best part of your home to be most effective and will make sure that it is running properly before they leave. This leaves all of the bases covered and ensures that you have been given something that works perfectly.

The second method that you can do is to install the furnace yourself. This requires that you read each instruction carefully and follow the necessary safety guidelines. This will prevent any mistakes and potential problems from occurring.

Manual Installation

Turn off the electricity to the old furnace if you have one and make sure to disconnect all of the chords. If any of the chords seem worn and are breaking then you needs to replace them.

Make sure that you remember what the chords were used for and where in the furnace they needed to go. This will make it easier for you to plug them back into the new furnace. This means that you new furnace should be able to use these same chords. If not then purchase the proper adapters to make them work properly.

Now it is time to bring the new furnace into the home and place it where the old one was.

Plug the new furnace into the right outlet. Because it used high voltage you need to make sure that there are certain special wiring to prevent it from blowing a fuse while trying to warm up the home.

Once you have reconnected all of the chords you need to test it to make sure it is working properly. If you feel that there are any problems call a professional to come and have a look at it.
